Story only scratched surface
“The Jan. 14 article ‘Christian Scientists view prayer as flu preventive’ was noteworthy for pointing out a spiritual approach to flu pandemics. But it was in some ways overly simplistic in its depiction of what Christian Scienctists believe, and how they approach the treatment of disease.
For a more complete and accurate understanding of this spiritual system of health care, one can visit a local Christian Science reading room or www.spirituality.com.
Healings through Christian Science treatment come about through prayer, bible study and a developing understanding of man’s relationship with god, not blind faith or positive thinking.
Dan Johnson’s treatment likely involved much more than was offered in this article. Carrying aroud quote from ‘Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures’ for a week may be a good way to remind oneself of an important idea to be pondered, but it is no magic cure.
