Holocaust memorial day

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day throughout the world.  In commemoration, my friend and colleague Tony Lobl has written an extraordinary blog post, “Emerging from the shadow of the Holocaust – my three transitional moments.” Tony is an excellent writer and this post is one of his best.  He reflects on his own “journey of emergence […]

“Now, I’ve heard rumors that a few of you have some concerns about the new health care law. So let me be the first to say that anything can be improved. If you have ideas about how to improve this law by making care better or more affordable, I am eager to work with you.” – […]

Mary Baker Eddy

Although the holiday was yesterday, I hope you’ll appreciate the following guest post from my friend and colleague, Eric Nelson in Northern California. As I was thinking about today’s celebration of Martin Luther King, it occurred to me that he and Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, had something pretty significant in common – […]

President Obama

In the wake of the tragic shooting in Tucson last Saturday, President Obama gave a memorial speech yesterday that I will not soon forget. I recognize that commenting favorably on an incumbent politician may be viewed as expressing political support.  That is not my intention in this post; this blog is non-political, and its focus […]

In a moment of silence…

Moment of silence

Guest blogger today is Russ Gerber, Manager of Christian Science Committees on Publication. When tragedy strikes, as it did in Tucson, and we’re invited to a moment of silence, it’s an opportunity for contemplation, prayer or to pay honor to the victims and their families. We all know the appropriateness of such moments, but may […]

US Congress building

Newly elected congressmen of the 112th U.S. Congress have been moving into their new Capitol Hill offices this week. According to The Christian Science Monitor, one of the first items they will be asked to address is the health care bill. Calls to repeal the bill or substitute an alternative plan or amend the existing […]

Professionally, I'm a licensed architect in both Washington and California State. I love architecture, but when it comes to priorities, it’s hard to top good health. That’s why I’ve shifted my interest from the physical to the mental environment that we abide in. My articles focus on presenting helpful ideas regarding the important connection between what we think and our health. I’ve been writing for Blogcritics and other online and print publications since 2011 and I was published in the international medical/science journal, "Global Advances in Health and Medicine" in 2012. I also serve as the media and legislative liaison for Christian Science in Washington State. Feel free to contact me at: washington@compub.org, 206-349-1229 or on Twitter @WilliamEdScott.
